ESSL League & SuperCup 2015 https://www.softballeurope.com/2015/04/22/essl-league-supercup-2015/ Wed, 22 Apr 2015 10:06:20 +0000 http://www.softballeurope.com/?p=1509

To set the course for the future the ESSL offers two championship titles in 2015 – the ESSL League Champion and the ESSL SuperCup Champion.

ESSL Team MapESSL League Champion
All 8 teams play in the 5 ESSL tournaments (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia). Based on the tournament results teams are awarded with points such:

1st Place: 10
2nd Place: 8
3rd Place: 6
4th Place: 5
5th place: 4
6th Place: 3
7th Place: 2
8th Place: 1

The team with the highest number of points once ALL 5 tournaments are completed is the ESSL League Champion.

ESSL SuperCup Champion
In September at the finals in Slovenia all 8 teams will compete for the SuperCup Championships in one tournament. Therefore, it is possible that at the end of the season the League Champion and a SuperCup Finals Champion could be two seperate teams.
NEW: For the 2015 SuperCup the ESSL offers two wild card spots to new teams outside the league.

How to qualifiy for the finals as a player?

  • A player needs to participate in two tournaments with at least one plate appearance in two games
  • Every Team will be allowed to have ONE player that was only able to participate in one tournament to play in the SuperCup Finals
  • New registered players that are justified and accepted by the ESSL to participate in the finals
A “NEW” player can be registered 48 hours prior to any tournament that must be submitted by the team and accompanied with a reason why they are a new player. For example if someone moves to Slovenia in August from a diferent country and wants to play with a Slovenian team in the SuperCup they can register the player and must show proof or something of just moving there and have a valid reason. The ESSL decides on it if it looks peculiar or not legit.

Guzzlers are ESSL champions 2014 https://www.softballeurope.com/2014/09/23/guzzlers-are-essl-champion-2015/ Tue, 23 Sep 2014 05:30:19 +0000 http://www.softballeurope.com/?p=1126 It was a difficult week-end for the teams at the finals in Linz, Austria. After the round robin games the rain started sometimes heavily. But nevertheless the teams stayed on the field and played ball. At the end of day the Guzzlers and the Los Coyotes won their group and played against each other in the seeding round. This was an exciting game between both teams. After 3 innings the Dominican team were 8 to 4 in front and it seemed as they had their first chance to beat the Guzzlers. But Guzzlers are a team that never gives up. With some power hits they scored 6 runs in the last inning to take the lead by one run. The chance for Los Coyotes was still alive. With one runner on second base and two outs one of their power hitters hit the ball towards deep left field. The ball was rising but a little bit too short for a homerun. With a catch by the left fielder the game ended 10 to 9  for the Guzzlers.

On that day the Bulldogs (Slovenia) seemed to be ready for this tournament, too. They also had a chance to beat the Guzzlers (11:14). After beating the Linz Grizzlies and Dream Team in the seeding round they were ranked number three and were looking forward to the double elimination round on Sunday. Unfortunately, on Sunday the rain started again and the whole day had to be canceled. Therefore, the final standings were based on the league rankings:

1. Guzzlers (USA)
2. Los Coyotes (Dominican Republic)
3. Grizzlies (Austria)
4. Bullodgs (Slovenia)
5. Dream Team (Slovenia)
6. Stallions (Slovenia)
