2019 is the biggest ESSL season

So far 19 teams confirmed their participation in the ESSL 2019. The ESSL is constantly growing and it is the biggest and most competitive Slowpitch league in Europe.

Since 2018 the teams are divided into two groups – West & Central. The goal of all the teams is to reach the ESSL finals in September that takes place in the Netherlands for the first time – see tournaments.

Battle of the Coaches – USA vs. Europe

For the first time an ESSL All Star game USA vs. Europe takes place at the Supercup in Regensburg. It will be a battle of two coaches with only one goal – to win the first All Star game in the history of the ESSL. For the US All Star team Randall Gifford, coach of the ESSL champion Wiesbaden Eagles, and for the Europeans Darja Grimisc, coach of the Windmill Classic European All Stars, are ready to put on a great show at the stadium and on our livestream https://live.softballeurope.com

This year Randall Gifford led his team, Wiesbaden Eagles, to their first ESSL championship tittle in an impressive way by winning 2 out 3 tournaments and scoring 163 runs in the championship tournament in Linz, Austria.

With Darja Grimsic the European All Stars have a coach that knows how to beat an US All Star team. Two years ago at the Windmill Classic she coached a team of European players to their first win of the US all-stars.

The US and the European players from the ESSL play their first ESSL All Star Game in Regensburg, Germany. The game takes place at the Supercup between the round robin and the double elimination games and will be streamed live with one camera: https://live.softballeurope.com

Team Dominican Republic (D.R.) won the first tournament of the 2017 ESSL season in an impressive way. With 6 wins and only two losses they put themselves on the top of the league. It was the second time in the history of the ESSL that a non-US team was able to win a tournament. The second one was also won by a Dominican Republic team named Los Coyotes.

This means Europe is still waiting for their first tournament title. Will it be this season? The chances are very high. The team D.R. already showed that with constant pitching, great defense in the outfield and the ability to hit line drives you can win against every team. Europe definitely has the talent to bring all their strengths together on the field. But what is still missing to win it? In any case the missing consistency playing a whole tournament on a high level and the belief to be able to go the last mile. But this season Europe is working hard to let their stars shine. Who will be the first European team to write history?

In hopes of ultimately developing an International Slowpitch Softball Cup Tournament and generating national interest we will be holding a US All Stars vs European All Stars Exhibition Game at the Windmill Classic being held in Almere, NL July 4, 2015. Game will be at 1900 and be held at the Almere Complex.

Players will be selected from each European Team in the ESSL by position and asked to come and play in this one of a kind softball game.
