Toros from Switzerland join the league in 2015

The 2014 season is not over and there is already a new team for the next season. The team is called Toros.

Toros are a new Slow Pitch Softball team integrated with players from Venezuela, Switzerland and other nationalities. Everything started with Xabi Hernandez and some friends. They had the idea to give a lot of people the opportunity to play their favourite sport in Switzerland and at the same time to take care of the social aspect. After a few weeks they already had a bunch of Venezuelan guys/girls wanting to play. But they are also an open house for everybody. With this philosophy more people from other nationalities joined the team and got involved. Today Toros are more than a team, they are a big family.

xabiThe idea to join the ESSL started after researching the internet for possible tournaments. “I was very impressed of the organisation, image and coverage of this new league. We immediately had the idea of being part of this amazing project. At the beginning it was only a dream, but after contacting Marc Stein and Drew Chesser as well as speaking with Darja Grimsic at a tournament in Croatia the dream seemed to come true”, Hernandez said.

To get some experience for next year the Toros will participate in the ESSL finals for some exhibition games. The tournament takes place on 13/14 of September in Linz/Austria. “For us it’s a good opportunity to introduce our team to the ESSL family and of course we are looking forward to a great ESSL 2015 season”, Hernandez said.
