The ESSL coordinates Slowpitch Softball tournaments that are organized by different hosts in the following countries: Austria, Germany. Slovenia and Switzerland. The concept is based on tournaments and league standings including player statistics.

Based on the results at each tournament teams are ranked in the ESSL league standings. The league will be coordinated by the ESSL sports director – see ESSL organisation.
The ESSL plays according to the official ASA Slowpitch rules and allows runners to steal bases.

This year the ESSL FINALS & SUPER CUP takes place on 19th/20th of September in Ljubljaba (Slovenia).

Every game will be scored based on the ESSL scoring system. It’s a simplified version of scoring a game – ESSL Scoring Manual

In 2015 the ESSL offers two championship titles: The ESSL League Champion and the ESSL Super Cup Champion.

ESSL League Champion
ESSL Team MapAll 8 teams play in the 5 ESSL tournaments (see tournaments). Based on the tournament results teams are awarded with points such:

1st Place: 10
2nd Place: 8
3rd Place: 6
4th Place: 5
5th place: 4
6th Place: 3
7th Place: 2
8th Place: 1

The team with the highest number of points once ALL 5 tournaments are completed is the ESSL League Champion.

ESSL Super Cup Champion
In September at the finals in Slovenia all teams will compete for the ESSL Super Cup Championships in one tournament. Therefore, it is possible that at the end of the season the League Champion and a SuperCup Finals Champion could be two seperate teams.
NEW: For the 2015 Slowpitch Super Cup the ESSL offers two wild card spots to new teams outside the league.

How to qualifiy for the finals as a player?

  • A player needs to participate in two tournaments with at least one plate appearance in two games
  • Every Team will be allowed to have ONE player that was only able to participate in one tournament to play in the Super Cup Finals
  • New registered players that are justified and accepted by the ESSL to participate in the finals
A “NEW” player can be registered 48 hours prior to any tournament that must be submitted by the team and accompanied with a reason why they are a new player. For example if someone moves to Slovenia in August from a diferent country and wants to play with a Slovenian team in the SuperCup they can register the player and must show proof or something of just moving there and have a valid reason. The ESSL decides on it if it looks peculiar or not legit.
